Mount Cook: Mountains High 40 minute Flight

About This Experience

Mountains High is The Helicopter Line's 40-minute flight from Glentanner Park into the heart of the national park. It runs past the Hochstetter Icefall on Aoraki/Mount Cook and over the upper Tasman Glacier, giving you a close look at the mountain and its glaciers.

High in the mountains the helicopter makes an alpine landing in the snow, subject to snow levels, where you step out to take photos and videos in the crisp alpine air. One reviewer called it a quick stop on the mountain that gave them a much better look at the summit.

The flight home runs through the remote Burnett Mountains, which face Aoraki/Mount Cook, with the wide, dry Mackenzie Basin below. The pilot gives commentary throughout, groups are small, limited to six, and complimentary transport to and from Aoraki/Mount Cook Village can be provided.

If the flight cannot run you are offered another departure or a full refund. Drones, iPads and selfie sticks are not allowed on board.

Meeting Point

Check in at the front desk of The Helicopter Line's base at Glentanner Park Centre, State Highway 80, on the shore of Lake Pukaki about 18 km from the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park boundary. Complimentary transport to and from Aoraki/Mount Cook Village can be provided.
